York, SC – Mrs. Sybil Lee Totherow Chappelear, 78, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia, NC.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 6, 2023 at Haven of Rest Baptist Church, 645 Connolly Road, York, SC 29745 with Reverend Johnny King officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park – Hollis Lakes Road, Rock Hill, SC following the service. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 5:30 pm on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC. At other times, at the home of her daughter, Holly (Wayne) Williams, 2140 Dolly Rose Drive, York, SC.
Born in Clover, SC, Mrs. Chappelear was the daughter of the late Manuel McClure Totherow and the late Bertha Hardin Totherow. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Donnie, Early and Wayne; three sisters, Annie, Myrtle and Grovie; her son-in-law, Jack Thrift; a grandson-in-law, Aaron Barnette. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. She always made sure everyone felt happy and loved. One of her passions was going to yard sales. She was a member of Haven of Rest Baptist Church, York.
Mrs. Chappelear is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, James H Chappelear; three daughters, Tammy (Eric) Pearson of Rock Hill, SC, Sheila Thrift, and Holly (Wayne) Williams both of York, SC; grandsons, Braxton, and Trent; granddaughters, Kayce, Jerica, Jami, and Chloe; great-grandchildren, Auston, AJ, Lane, Maverick, and Raylee; two brothers, Charles and Calvin; two sisters, Dorothy and Lois.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mrs. Sybil Chappelear’ s name to American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75231.
