Rock Hill, SC – Mrs. Thelma Currence Childers, 101, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at her home.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Eastside Baptist Church, 318 North Jones Avenue, Rock Hill with Reverend Jerry Devinney officiating. Burial will be in Old Concord Cemetery, Old Concord Road, Clover, SC. Visitation with family and friends will be Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill from 4:00 until 6:00 pm.
Born in Clover, SC, Mrs. Childers was the daughter of the late Brainard Meek Currence and the late Lina Baird Currence. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe E Childers, her son, Gerald Childers. She was retired from RHP&F with over 30 years of service. She was an avid gardener, whom loved being outdoors. She was an active member of Northside Baptist Church.
Mrs. Childers is survived by her two daughters, Dell C Matthews, and Joann C (Robert) Baker both of Rock Hill; ten grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Thelma Childers’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
