Rock Hill, SC – Thomas Joseph Flaherty II, 76, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 13, 2023.
Tom was born on February 2, 1947, in Washington, DC, to the late Thomas Joseph Flaherty, Sr., and Lois Afton Duvall Flaherty. He served in the United States Navy and was the proud owner of Detek (a wholesale company specializing in Non-Destructive Testing equipment) for 50 years. He shared 45 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Sandy.
During his free time, Tom enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the “Old Stogies” group. He also loved watching the Washington Redskins. He was a devoted Christian, attending Southside Baptist Church in Rock Hill, SC. One of his cherished possessions was his 1960 Mercedes SL, which he affectionately named “Miss Agnes.” Most of all, Thomas adored his family, and his grandchildren lovingly called him “Poppa.”
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Sandra Joy Flaherty; his sons, Larry Krieg (Penny) of Simpsonville, SC, Brad Flaherty (Cindy) of Simpsonville, SC, and Ken Flaherty (Kelli) of Columbus, Ohio; his daughter, Laura Prong (Donald) of Pickering, Ont., Canada; his brother, Tim Flaherty (Kay) of Alexandria, Virginia; his sisters, Denise Goldstein (Stuart) of Louisville, CO, and Dawn Flaherty (Dave) of Voluntown, CT; his stepmother, Susan Flaherty of Savannah, GA; as well as his grandchildren, Amanda, Dylan, Abbey, Griffin, Caden, Hailey, Ava, and Lindsey.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, June 19, 2023, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service, beginning at 12:00 PM. Burial will be private at Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
