Rock Hill, SC – Mr. Thomas M. Hope, Jr., 81, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Piedmont Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at 11:00 am at Filbert Presbyterian Church, 2066 Filbert Highway, York, SC 29745 with Pastor Dave Hall and Associate Pastor Jeff Bryant, officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Garden, York. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 7, 2023 from 6-7:30 pm at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.
A native of York, SC, Tom was the son of the late Thomas Meek Hope, Sr. and the late Lucy Maurice Howell Hope. He was a graduate of York Technical College and served in the United States Army Reserves. Tom worked for a number of years at Package Products in Charlotte NC before beginning his full-time funeral service career in 1986 with York Funeral Home. In 1991, he became a funeral director with Greene Funeral Home, where he remained until his retirement in 2018. Tom cared deeply for all the families he served throughout his ministry as a funeral director. He was also a member of the Lions Club and the Men’s Chorus in York, SC.
Tom is survived by his loving wife 59 years, Rosanna Black Hope; his sons, Chip Hope (Jody) and Gregg Hope of York, SC and David Hope (Ginger) of Rock Hill; his daughters, Jan Kiser (Lee) of Sharon and Jenny Douglass (Jon) of York, SC; two brothers, Jim Hope (Rachel) of Aiken and Keith Hope (Patti) of York; and 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Edgar “Ed” Hope and his sister, Brenda Hope Cox.
