Rock Hill, SC – A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Vera S. George of Rock Hill, SC joined her Lord on February 16, 2025, at the age of 95, surrounded by family at home.
From a childhood in Ohio spending time on a farm, she went to college at the Moore Institute of Art, becoming an accomplished commercial art illustrator and ballroom dance instructor in the Philadelphia area. She met the love of her life, husband Howard, and went on to build a home filled with joy, laughter and love. Her children loved learning from her, whether it was how to cook, sew or play cards.
Vera was preceded in death by Howard, after 55 years of marriage, parents Leo Russell and Ruth Erma Shawkey, her sister Rita Dye, and brother, Dallas Shawkey.
