Walter Richard Freudenthal, 75, of Rock Hill, South Carolina, passed away on October 14, 2026.
Walter was born in the Bronx, New York, on May 16, 1951 to his parents, the late George Freudenthal and Mildred Finley. Walter worked as an auto mechanic, where majority of his career was at Ford Lincoln Mercury in Toms River, New Jersey. Walter enjoyed working on cars even outside of work when he was able to help friends restore their project cars or get their daily drivers back on the road. It was a great way to hang in the garage with his friends. He stayed active by playing golf, going bowling and attending car shows where he would take his baby blue 1965 Mercury Comet. Walter also enjoyed watching NASCAR, golf, baseball and football especially when his favorite teams, the Yankees and Jets, were on TV. Walter loved his family and instilled his values and loving nature to his children and grandchildren. One of his most cherished times was when the family all got together and had big meals around the holidays. The family would gather to pray and before they ate, he would raise his glass and say in Italian “alla famiglia!” which means “to the family!” Walter was married to his late wife of 47 years, Maddy Freudenthal. His final years were impactful as everyone loved Walter and all had great stories share.
Walter is survived by his sons, Daniel Freudenthal and wife Vicky of York, SC. Eric Freudenthal and wife Sandy of Monterey, Tennessee, and Harvey Saunders and wife Staci of Rock Hill, SC; grandchildren, Matthew Saunders, Brianna Saunders Lisk and husband Dakota, Brayden Freudenthal, Tristyn Jones, Brook Lyn Freudenthal, Camryn Freudenthal; great-grandchildren, Logan Lisk, Tatum Lisk, and many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
