ROCK HILL – Mrs. Wesley Smith Poe, 89, of 2113 James Court went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ in whom she believed, on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2025.
Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday November 21, at Laurelwood Cemetery, 143 Laurel Street, Rock Hill, SC 29730. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 21, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
Born in Augusta, Ga., Mrs. Poe was the daughter of the late John Hendon Smith and the late Kathryn Stewart Smith. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and a former teacher at St. Johns Methodist Church preschool program. She was also the nursery manager at the Farmers Exchange. She was a graduate of Winthrop Training School and Converse College.
Mrs. Poe is survived by her son, A Bynum Poe, III and wife Melanie, of Rock Hill; her daughter, Kathryn P. Duff and her husband Alan, of Littleton, Colo.; her grandchildren, Dr. Frances Poe Bailey, Caroline Poe Conrad (Dale), Milton Sadler Poe (Kayla), Alan Douglas Duff Jr (Amy), Wesley Stewart Duff and John Michael Duff. She also is survived by great grandchildren: William Christopher Bailey, Emma Grace Tinkler, Maddie Lynn Poe, Wesley Anne Bailey, Abigail Jean Poe, Julia Fran Conrad, Alan Douglas Duff III, William James Duff, Cayden Elijah Duff, Savannah Suzanne Duff, Damien Michael Duff, Dominic Isaiah Duff, and Mackenzie Grace Duff. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvis Bynum Poe, Jr. and her grandson, Hendon Bynum Poe.
