William Robert Calamas, 88, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, at the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House.  He was born on August 9, 1937, in Augusta, Georgia, to the late James Peter Calamas and Ruth Beatrice Smith Calamas.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Peter James Calamas and DeLeon Calamas.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Lee Calamas; sons, Bill Calamas (Allison) and Pete Calamas (Marilee); daughter, Mary Anne Calamas Painter (Andrew); grandchildren, Preston Calamas (Hannah), Robert Calamas (Shannon), Andrew Calamas (fiancée, Olga), Lauren Calamas, Nathan Calamas, Evie Painter, Walter Painter, and Barron Painter; and great-grandchildren, Gabe, Raeleigh, Malachi, Roman, Joshua, Eli, and Isaac.

Bill attended The Citadel; graduated from Carson Newman College in 1960; and attended the Southeastern Seminary.  He culminated his career as the Executive Vice President for the Fred S. James/Sedgwick Insurance Corporation for the Carolina’s region that he led for many years.

In addition to his accomplished work career, he also served on the Board of Directors of the Columbia American Red Cross and was instrumental in fundraising for Richland Memorial Children’s Hospital.

Bill was active in coaching his sons in Irmo/Chapin Little League Baseball.  He loved golfing, traveling, hosting family gatherings, and walks on the beach with his wife of 62 years.

A time of sharing and remembrance will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 2:00PM at the Carolina Orchards Amenity Center, 1285 Carolina Orchards Blvd, Fort Mill, SC  29715.  (Casual Attire)
